Environmental Group Demands 29 Euro Ticket Instead of Fossil Fuel Subsidies
Over 77,000 people have supported an appeal by Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) for a 29 Euro nationwide public transport ticket, calling for an end to fossil fuel subsidies.

Berlin – The environmental organization Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) is calling for a 29 Euro nationwide ticket for public transport, valid for at least twelve months. DUH argues this would provide genuine relief for citizens facing rising fuel prices, unlike current fuel subsidies.
The DUH's petition has garnered over 77,000 signatures. The organization criticizes the government's allocation of approximately 2.5 billion Euros for the artificial reduction of gasoline and diesel prices, while the cost of the Deutschlandticket is reportedly increasing.
Jürgen Resch, DUH's managing director, stated that fuel subsidies benefit high-consumption drivers and contribute to climate change, while public transport users are being charged more. He urged citizens to support the organization's petition and advocate for public funds to be directed towards improving and expanding public transport instead of subsidizing fossil fuels.
DUH believes that public funds should be invested in affordable and well-developed bus and rail services, rather than in subsidies for gasoline and diesel.
