Envision Energy launches AI-based power management system for mining
Envision Energy introduced an AI-driven energy management platform at the All Energy Australia conference, designed to stabilize renewable power for mining and smelting operations.
Envision Energy presented a new dispatch system for the mining and smelting sector at the All Energy Australia conference in Melbourne this week. The platform integrates renewable energy generation, battery storage, and artificial intelligence to manage industrial power loads.
By utilizing AI to predict energy demand and resource availability, the system aims to provide a continuous power supply for heavy industry, which often struggles with the intermittency of wind and solar energy. This technology attempts to address the technical challenges of decoupling carbon-intensive mining operations from fossil fuel grids.
The launch comes as mining companies face increasing regulatory and shareholder pressure to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions. Similar energy management platforms are currently being developed by competitors like ABB and Siemens to capitalize on the electrification of heavy industry.
Envision Energy stated that the system is designed to lower operational costs while meeting the high energy intensity requirements of smelting. The company intends to begin implementation trials within Australian mining projects over the next year.
