Envision Energy Launches EN-252/16.7 Offshore Wind Turbine
Envision Energy has introduced its new EN-252/16.7 offshore wind turbine, designed for high-wind environments and international markets. The turbine features 16.7 MW rated power and enhanced reliability.
Hamburg, Germany – Envision Energy has launched the EN-252/16.7 offshore wind turbine, developed for high-wind environments and tailored for international markets. The turbine boasts 16.7 megawatt (MW) rated power, a high-performance rotor, and an integrated powertrain, aiming to increase energy production and project ROI.
The EN-252/16.7 is built upon Envision's existing Model Z platform, which has been operational since 2023. The new model is specifically adapted for European markets and has undergone extensive component and system-level validation. It combines high-capacity generation with vertically integrated key components and utilizes AI-powered lifecycle monitoring through Envision's Galileo system.
According to Envision Energy, the new turbine can increase annual energy production by approximately 1-2% in gigawatt-scale offshore wind farms, while reducing the number of turbines by around 10% compared to current models. This could lead to an estimated reduction in the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) of 2-4%.
The turbine is engineered for reliability and safety in extreme conditions, capable of withstanding average wind speeds of up to 58.5 meters per second. It is also designed to operate reliably in weak or disrupted grid conditions. The Galileo AI system aids in predicting faults and optimizing maintenance, aiming to reduce downtime and operational costs.
