Envision Energy launches new 16.7 MW offshore wind turbine
Envision Energy has introduced its new EN-252/16.7 offshore wind turbine, designed for high wind conditions and improved energy production.

Technology firm Envision Energy has commenced production of its next-generation EN-252/16.7 offshore wind turbine. The new 16.7-megawatt (MW) nominal capacity unit is specifically designed for markets with strong wind conditions and is expected to enhance energy output and reliability.
The turbine is built upon the company's established Model Z platform, which has been developed and operated for over a decade. The international version of the EN-252/16.7 features a high-efficiency rotor, optimized for European market requirements. The company states this model increases energy generation and reduces the number of turbines needed compared to current market offerings, potentially lowering the levelized cost of electricity.
Envision Energy has emphasized the turbine's reliability through comprehensive component and system-level validations at its own testing facilities. The company also leverages its vertically integrated production process, manufacturing several key components in-house, including generators and blades.
The turbine is engineered to withstand demanding marine environments, including extreme wind conditions. It also supports grid-forming capabilities and independent startup without external power. Furthermore, the company is integrating its AI-based Galileo system into the turbine for operational monitoring and performance maintenance throughout its lifecycle.
