Envision Energy Powers Morocco's First Large-Scale Battery Storage at OCP Mine

Envision Energy has successfully commissioned Morocco's first large-scale energy storage system based on lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery technology. The system is situated at the OCP Group's mining site in Benguerir, Morocco.

The new battery storage facility is designed to enhance grid stability and reliability in an area with significant industrial activity. It also facilitates the more efficient integration of renewable energy sources, such as solar power, into the regional electricity grid.

This project marks a significant advancement in Morocco's efforts to increase the share of renewable energy in its power generation and reduce carbon emissions. OCP Group is one of the world's largest producers of phosphates and fertilizers, and its mining operations are energy-intensive.

The battery storage system will help to smooth out peak electricity demand and provide backup power, crucial for mining operations. This deployment could also serve as a model for other industrial projects within Morocco and across Africa.
