Envision supplies green ammonia for inaugural VLAC vessel bunkering
Envision has fueled the Terra Clove, the world's first Very Large Ammonia Carrier equipped for dual-fuel ammonia propulsion, marking a shift in maritime fuel logistics.

Envision has supplied green ammonia to the Terra Clove, a Very Large Ammonia Carrier (VLAC) owned by Eastern Pacific Shipping and built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries. The vessel, which features a dual-fuel ammonia propulsion system, recently underwent its naming ceremony in South Korea.
The fuel originates from Envision’s Chifeng Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Industrial Park in Inner Mongolia, which operates with a 320,000-ton annual capacity. The facility holds certifications under ISO, RFNBO, and ISCC standards. This deployment builds upon the company's previous commercial shipment to LOTTE Fine Chemical, further integrating production with maritime end-use.
According to Frank Yu, senior vice president at Envision Energy, the successful bunkering demonstrates the viability of green ammonia as a scalable marine fuel. The Terra Clove is designed to operate on a mix of fuels, allowing for reduction in lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining operational flexibility.
