Envision Supplies Green Ammonia for World's First Ammonia-Powered VLAC

Envision has supplied green ammonia for the bunkering of the Terra Clove, the world's first Very Large Ammonia Carrier (VLAC) built with dual-fuel ammonia propulsion. Owned by Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) and constructed by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), the vessel marks a technical step forward in maritime decarbonization efforts.

The ammonia used is produced at Envision’s Chifeng Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Industrial Park in Inner Mongolia. The facility has an current output capacity of 320,000 tons annually and adheres to both RFNBO and ISCC certifications, meeting international standards for green fuel production.

Frank Yu, Senior Vice President of Envision Energy, stated that the project establishes a functional end-to-end value chain for green ammonia. The Terra Clove’s dual-fuel engine allows the vessel to operate on green ammonia while maintaining the capacity to use conventional fuels as necessary during the maritime industry's transition period.
