E.ON Survey: One Third Willing to Help Balance Grid with Electric Cars and Devices
A survey by E.ON Energie Deutschland GmbH reveals interest in fixed-price electricity tariffs with flexibility bonuses. One in three consumers expressed a willingness to use their electric vehicles and other devices to help balance the power grid.

BERLIN – E.ON Energie Deutschland GmbH has released a survey indicating a growing consumer interest in fixed-price electricity tariffs that offer flexibility bonuses. The study found that one-third of respondents are prepared to actively participate in balancing the power grid, for instance, by utilizing their electric vehicles or other smart devices.
The survey results highlight consumers' desire to manage their energy costs through fixed prices while providing flexibility for grid management. This suggests a potential shift in how consumers perceive their energy consumption and the grid's functionality.
E.ON states that consumers are increasingly aware of the challenges in the energy market and are actively seeking solutions that offer both cost savings and the opportunity to contribute to a more stable electricity network. The increasing adoption of electric cars, in particular, offers new possibilities for storing and releasing energy based on demand.
The company intends to leverage this data to develop new energy services and contracts that better meet consumer needs while supporting the energy transition towards a more stable and sustainable energy system.
