Epidemic Sound Launches EAR Audio Search Tool
Music tech company Epidemic Sound has launched its new Epidemic Audio Reference (EAR) tool. The feature allows users to search for music by providing a segment of a track as an audio reference.

Epidemic Sound, a company specializing in music for content creators, has introduced a new tool called Epidemic Audio Reference (EAR). This feature allows users to find music within Epidemic Sound's catalog by using a specific part of a song as a reference. The goal is to streamline the process of discovering suitable background music for videos and other media.
The EAR tool enables users to select a segment from a track in the Epidemic Sound library that they find appealing. The system then identifies and suggests other tracks that share similar tonal qualities and sound characteristics to the selected audio clip. Initially, the tool will be limited to referencing tracks already present in Epidemic Sound's own catalog.
To use the feature, users can access the track's page, activate its waveform display, and highlight the desired section of the audio. EAR will then present a list of similar music tracks. Epidemic Sound states that finding music for content creation requires different tools than discovering music for personal listening.
The company suggests that tools like EAR are designed to make the process of soundtracking content more engaging and to support the creative and commercial success of storytellers.
