Epidemic Sound reports 2021 most downloaded tracks and creative trends
Epidemic Sound has released data on its most popular music tracks and audio trends from 2021, highlighting the rise of electronica and the preference for optimistic soundscapes among digital creators.

Electronica and dance music emerged as the most popular genre on Epidemic Sound’s platform throughout 2021. The shift is attributed to both the increasing accessibility of professional music production tools and the role of influencers and storytellers who utilize the genre as a cornerstone for digital video content.
Swedish electronic producer Ooyy secured the top spot as the most downloaded artist, with his track ”Come2gether” ranking as the year’s most used composition. Other notable artists identified in the review include Dylan Sitts, Nbhd Nick, Tigerblood Jewel, and Loving Caliber, who collective generated billions of views across video platforms.
The data also reveals a shift toward ”comfort content,” with creators prioritizing audio moods such as ”happy,” ”hopeful,” and ”dreamy.” Analysts suggest this trend reflects a broader cultural movement toward uplifting content to counterbalance global instability.
Beyond musical compositions, Epidemic Sound noted a significant increase in the use of sound effects, leading the company to expand its library to 90,000 assets. These audio elements serve as functional tools for creators looking to improve the technical polish of their online productions.
