Epiroc expands manufacturing in India with new rock drilling tools facility

Epiroc AB, a supplier to the mining and construction industries, has opened an expanded facility in Hyderabad, India, dedicated to producing rock drilling tools and rock reinforcement products. The expansion adds 5,280 square meters of production space adjacent to the company's existing plant.

The new facility aims to meet growing customer demand for essential tools that improve safety and productivity in mining operations. Production is scheduled to begin next month, marking a further enhancement of the plant's capacity, which was previously doubled in 2017.

"This expanded production capacity in India of high-quality rock reinforcement and rock drilling tools strengthens our long-term commitment to the important and growing Indian market as well as to our customers across the globe," stated Helena Hedblom, Epiroc's President and CEO. The investment also supports India's "Make in India" initiative, according to Arunkumar Govindarajan, President Epiroc India.

The expansion also creates approximately 35 new local jobs, increasing the workforce at the Hyderabad site to around 335 employees. Epiroc employs approximately 1,600 people in India overall, including a significant presence in research and development. The company had previously held a groundbreaking ceremony for the facility and opened a new innovation and technology center in Hyderabad in September 2024.
