Epiroc has secured a large order for mining equipment, including battery-electric vehicles and automation solutions, from Swedish mining company Boliden. The equipment will be deployed at three of Boliden's underground mines in northern Sweden: Rävliden and Renström, and Kankberg. The order, valued at approximately SEK 130 million, was booked in the second quarter of 2023.

The delivery will include a range of mine trucks, loaders, and drill rigs, with several models being battery-electric. Specifically, the order comprises the Minetruck MT42 SG hauler, Scooptram ST18 SG loader, and the Boomer E20 SG and Boltec E10 SG drill rigs, all equipped with battery-electric drivetrains. Additionally, Boliden will implement Epiroc's Deep Automation system to automate material handling processes, enhancing safety and productivity.

Boliden aims to optimize the safety, productivity, and sustainability of its mining operations, including producing metals with a low carbon footprint. This new order follows a similar large purchase from Epiroc last year, which also included battery-powered drilling rigs and loaders.

Epiroc focuses on providing productivity and sustainability solutions to the mining and infrastructure industries. The company's battery-electric solutions offer zero operational emissions, improved work environments, and reduced ventilation costs, contributing to higher productivity and better environmental performance.
