Epson Projectors Power World's First Museum of AI Art

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. – Epson's large-venue laser projectors are playing a central role in the world's first museum of AI art, DATALAND, which opened in Los Angeles in June 2026. Founded by media artist Refik Anadol, the museum's largest exhibition space, Gallery A, uses 84 synchronized Epson EB-PQ2220B 4K laser projectors to transform the 25,000-square-foot space into a living sculpture.

DATALAND's inaugural exhibition, 'Machine Dreams: Rainforest,' leverages Anadol's Large Nature Model (LNM) AI system, which combines live data from rainforests to create continuously evolving visual and multisensory experiences. The museum aims to connect audiences with nature and its intelligence, and Epson's projection technology enables the realization of this vision at scale and with precision.

According to Anadol, Epson has acted as more than just a technology provider, but as a true creative partner in the museum's development. "Epson's projection technology has given us the confidence to push the boundaries of immersive storytelling," Anadol stated. "At DATALAND, every projection is part of a living artwork, where visuals, sound, scent, touch, and even taste work together to tell a single story."

The design of Gallery A involved meticulous planning to ensure reflective surfaces and a mirrored ceiling enhanced the experience without distraction. The system, delivering over 1.5 million lumens and nearly 700 million pixels, creates a seamless and immersive environment that changes in real time based on audience and rainforest data.
