Funds managed by EQT and Blackstone Infrastructure have agreed to acquire Urbaser, a Spain-based company specializing in waste management and environmental services. Urbaser, founded over three decades ago, provides integrated waste management solutions to over 60 million people globally, serving both municipal and industrial clients.

The company operates a comprehensive waste management model, encompassing collection, treatment, and advanced solutions focused on maximizing recycling and recovery, including energy-from-waste technologies. Urbaser positions itself as a key player in supporting the sustainable development of the waste value chain and the transition towards a circular economy.

Both EQT and Blackstone intend to support Urbaser's management team in expanding its operations, particularly in the fast-growing industrial waste sector, while reinforcing its core municipal waste services. The investment aims to leverage Urbaser's expertise and long-term contracts to foster continued growth.

Following the acquisition, EQT and Blackstone will each hold a 50% stake in Urbaser and will jointly manage the company. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
