EQT Completes Combination with BPEA, Boosting Asian Presence
EQT AB has completed its combination with Baring Private Equity Asia (BPEA), creating a larger global private markets firm. The merged entity aims to capture significant growth opportunities in Asia.

Stockholm, Sweden – EQT AB announced on October 18, 2022, the completion of its strategic combination with Baring Private Equity Asia (BPEA). This transaction unites EQT's global reach with BPEA's strong footing in Asian markets, establishing one of the world's largest private markets firms focused on active ownership strategies.
The combination is expected to significantly enhance EQT's position in Asia, a region projected to outpace global private markets in growth. EQT believes this expansion is crucial for delivering long-term returns to its clients. The merger integrates BPEA's extensive experience in Asia with EQT's expertise in areas such as sustainability and digitalization, aiming for a "local-with-locals" approach in markets representing 80 percent of global GDP.
"Asia is home to more than half of the world’s population and is projected to generate over 40 percent of global GDP within ten years. Consequently, the growth of the Asian private market is expected to accelerate at nearly double the pace of global markets through 2025," said Christian Sinding, CEO of EQT. "As a combined firm, we offer local experience and global capabilities, underpinned by shared values, positioning EQT to capture opportunities through our leading investment strategies across private equity, infrastructure, and real estate."
The integrated BPEA EQT Private Capital brings together the private equity teams of BPEA and EQT Asia, with offices located in Beijing, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo. This business builds on BPEA's 25 years of success in Asian markets. Additionally, EQT's real estate division, EQT Exeter, is strengthened through the integration of BPEA's Asian real estate business.
Through this combination, EQT aims to improve its global standing and more effectively leverage Asia's growth potential, offering its clients a broader spectrum of investment opportunities.
