EQT Foundation Commits Over €1 Million to Brain Drug Delivery Research
The EQT Foundation has awarded over €1 million to 11 research projects aimed at improving the delivery of therapeutics to the brain and central nervous system.
The EQT Foundation is supporting 11 research projects with over €1 million in grants, aiming to advance how therapeutics reach the brain and central nervous system. The funding, distributed through the EQT Foundation Science Grant program, targets a fundamental challenge in CNS medicine.
Researchers involved in the supported projects are exploring multiple routes through and around the blood-brain barrier. Their work includes developing engineered biological carriers, molecular shuttles, gene therapy vectors, nanoparticles, and AI-designed delivery technologies. These diverse approaches seek to overcome existing limitations in treating neurological, neurodegenerative, oncological, and rare genetic diseases.
The blood-brain barrier presents a significant obstacle to developing effective treatments for many brain disorders. This EQT Foundation initiative aims to accelerate solutions to this critical problem, potentially leading to new therapeutic options for patients suffering from a range of conditions affecting the central nervous system.
