EQT Group, a global investment organization, announced the successful closing of its third Asia Mid Market fund at $800 million. The fund attracted commitments from a diverse range of institutional investors, including pension funds, insurance companies, and fund-of-funds, with capital sourced from Northern Europe, other parts of Europe, and Asia.

The fund's strategy is to invest in mid-market companies in Greater China and Southeast Asia, pursuing majority or controlling stakes. EQT aims to drive growth through initiatives such as sales expansion, strategic repositioning, digitalization, and sector consolidation. Target sectors align with EQT's broader investment themes, including healthcare, services, consumer, technology, media, and telecom (TMT), and industrial technology.

So far, the Asia Mid Market fund has completed four acquisitions. These include Changshui Education Group in China, GPA Global, a provider of packaging solutions in China, ILA Vietnam, an English language training provider, and Clinical Innovations, a U.S.-based medical device supplier with manufacturing in Asia.

EQT has had a presence in Asia for over a decade, with investment advisory teams in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Singapore. The firm emphasizes its 'local market, local teams' approach, combined with a global strategy, to foster long-term development and capitalize on opportunities within the dynamic Asian markets.
