EQT Life Sciences has led a 20 million USD investment round in medical simulation firm FundamentalVR. The funding, sourced from the LSP Health Economics Fund 2, brings the startup’s total raised capital to over 30 million USD.

FundamentalVR develops a platform that integrates virtual reality with haptic feedback to allow surgeons to rehearse procedures in a virtual environment. The technology is currently deployed in more than 30 countries and is utilized by institutions such as the Mayo Clinic. The company plans to use the fresh capital to expand its presence in the United States and refine its machine learning data capabilities.

As part of the investment, Drew Burdon, a partner at EQT Life Sciences, has joined FundamentalVR’s board of directors. Previous investor Downing Ventures also participated in the round.

The medical simulation market continues to grow as healthcare providers seek standardized training methods to improve surgical outcomes and manage training costs. FundamentalVR’s platform is designed to provide scalable and hardware-agnostic training solutions for various medical disciplines.
