EQT to acquire Copia Power to bolster AI infrastructure
Investment firm EQT has agreed to acquire Copia Power, a company that develops energy and digital infrastructure campuses in the US to support AI growth. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026.

Investment firm EQT has agreed to acquire Copia Power, a company that develops, owns, and operates integrated, large-scale energy and digital infrastructure campuses across the United States. The transaction, anticipated to close by the end of 2026, aims to strengthen EQT's investment in the infrastructure underpinning artificial intelligence.
Copia Power's business model integrates power generation, transmission, and data center load at a single interconnection point. This strategic approach seeks to accelerate the development of AI infrastructure while enhancing grid reliability and affordability. The company currently manages over 2.6 GW of energy generation and storage assets in operation or under construction, and is actively developing more than 9 GW for grid-connected data centers.
The rapid expansion of AI demand has created a critical need for scalable and reliable power, emerging as a bottleneck for data center expansion. Copia Power's integrated model is designed to address this constraint by offering a unified solution for increasing generation and load, benefiting areas where interconnection queues are a significant hurdle.
EQT plans to collaborate with Copia Power's management team to scale the platform and advance development projects throughout the US. This acquisition expands EQT's existing portfolio, which includes other AI infrastructure-related investments such as data centers, energy, and fiber connectivity companies.
