EQT to Acquire Majority Stake in Cybersecurity Firm Acronis
Investment firm EQT will acquire a majority stake in Acronis, a provider of cybersecurity and data protection solutions. The transaction is expected to accelerate Acronis' growth and expansion.
Investment organization EQT, through its EQT X fund, has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Acronis, a company specializing in cybersecurity and data protection solutions. The announcement was made on August 7, 2024.
Following the transaction, Acronis founders, management, and existing investors, including CVC, Springcoast, and BlackRock Private Equity Partners, will retain significant minority stakes. Acronis' valuation in this deal surpasses its previous growth funding round in 2022.
Founded in 2003, Acronis provides an integrated cybersecurity and data protection platform for Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and corporate IT departments. The company operates in over 150 countries, with its solutions protecting over 750,000 businesses through more than 20,000 service providers.

The transaction is expected to close in the first or second quarter of 2025, pending customary regulatory approvals.
