EQT has agreed to acquire a 42% shareholding in Kelda Holdings Limited, the parent company of Yorkshire Water, which provides water and wastewater services to approximately 5.5 million customers in the Yorkshire region of the UK.

The investment firm plans to inject further equity to support Yorkshire Water's strategy for improving customer services and environmental performance. EQT will back the company's significant investment program, totaling £8.3 billion between 2025 and 2030, aimed at enhancing services, infrastructure, and environmental protection.

This transaction occurs as the UK water sector enters a new investment phase following regulatory reviews. EQT aims to play a role in modernizing the sector and improving customer experience through active ownership, building on its existing infrastructure investment portfolio.

EQT brings experience in the water and infrastructure sectors. With the new ownership, Yorkshire Water plans to hire over 1,000 new local employees to bolster its service and infrastructure capabilities.
