EQT Ventures III closes Europe's largest venture fund for tech startups
EQT Group has closed its EQT Ventures III fund with total commitments of EUR 1.1 billion. The fund will invest in early-stage technology companies in Europe and North America.
EQT Group announced on November 9, 2022, the final close of its EQT Ventures III fund, securing total commitments of EUR 1.1 billion. Of this amount, EUR 1 billion is fee-generating and will be directed towards early-stage technology startups across Europe and North America.
The fund's successful fundraising, despite current market uncertainties, attracted a diverse base of institutional investors, foundations, and endowments from Europe, North America, and Asia. EQT Ventures III plans to make initial investments ranging from EUR 1 million to EUR 50 million in founder-led companies utilizing technology to address significant societal challenges.
This latest fund builds on the track record of EQT Ventures, which since 2016 has completed over 100 investments. Nine of these portfolio companies have achieved valuations exceeding EUR 1 billion. The fund has already led investments in 13 companies, including Juni, Nothing, and Candela.
Combined with the recently closed EQT Growth fund, EQT will deploy a total of EUR 3.5 billion in early and growth-stage technology companies, reinforcing its position as a significant investor in the technology sector.
