Equinor, Aker BP, and Vår Energi have formed a strategic exploration collaboration aimed at identifying new major oil and gas resources on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS).

The partnership seeks to enhance the potential for new, standalone field developments and long-term value creation. The companies intend to pool their expertise, data, technology, and exploration capacity to target selected high-impact exploration prospects.

Over the next four to five years, the firms plan to mature and test a portfolio of approximately 100 exploration areas. This collaboration will leverage shared data and resources gathered from strategic exploration zones within the NCS.

The agreement, signed in Sandnes, Norway, signifies the companies' commitment to securing future energy resources from the Norwegian continental shelf. This joint approach is expected to mitigate individual risks and costs while aiming to maximize the probability of significant discoveries.
