Ericsson simplifies structure, announces executive team changes

Ericsson announced organizational and executive team changes, including the formation of a new Market Area Asia-Pacific (APAC) by combining Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia, Oceania, and India.

15 October 2026

Telecommunications company Ericsson has announced significant changes to its operational structure and executive team, aimed at enhancing research and development capabilities, improving customer focus, and driving efficiencies.

A new Market Area Asia-Pacific (APAC) will be established, effective January 1, 2027. This area will combine the current Market Areas Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia, Oceania, and India. Ericsson states this consolidation will enable more effective operations across the region while maintaining a strong focus at the country and customer level.

Patrick Johansson, currently Head of Market Area Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), has been appointed as the Head of the new APAC market area. A recruitment process for a new Head of Market Area EMEA will be initiated. The company also noted that Johansson has prior experience working in the APAC region.

Furthermore, Ericsson is reorganizing its Business Area Enterprise Wireless Solutions (BEWS). The portfolio of indoor and enterprise solutions will be relocated to other parts of Ericsson to better leverage R&D synergies and achieve necessary scale for product innovation. This move is intended to strengthen offerings for businesses as new use cases emerge with advanced mobile networks.

Three members of the Executive Team – Åsa Tamsons, Chafic Nassif, and Andres Vicente – will transition from their current positions by December 31, 2026. They will support the formation of the new group structure during this period. CEO Per Narvinger stated that the changes are designed to create a leaner and more balanced executive team, allowing for faster decision-making and increased agility.
