Ericsson Supplies RAN Compute Platform to NTT DOCOMO in Japan
Ericsson's next-generation RAN Compute platform has been selected by NTT DOCOMO for its networks in Japan, including 5G.
Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) announced that its next-generation RAN Compute platform has been selected by Japanese telecommunications operator NTT DOCOMO, INC. (DOCOMO). The platform will be deployed in DOCOMO's networks across Japan, supporting both current and future mobile services.
The Ericsson RAN Compute platform is built using the latest Ericsson Silicon and is optimized for 4G, 5G, and 5G Advanced technologies. Designed for efficiency, the platform's compact size and high capacity are intended to improve site operations and reduce costs for the operator.
Additionally, Ericsson and DOCOMO will collaborate on developing next-generation network architectures. This partnership aims to prepare for future traffic demands, particularly those expected from increased artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
