ESA Names 2026 Recipients of Interactive Entertainment Impact Awards

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has named Representatives Stephanie Bice (R-OK) and Jim McGovern (D-MA), along with the educational organization iCivics, as the recipients of its 2026 Interactive Entertainment Impact Awards. Established in 2024, the awards recognize champions of the video game industry and their efforts to enable and leverage the positive impact video games have on society.

According to ESA President and CEO Stanley Pierre-Louis, video games are a meaningful part of daily life for over 212 million Americans and a significant economic driver. He highlighted that this year's honorees from Congress have championed policies that help the U.S. industry thrive, while iCivics uses the power of play to teach students about democracy.

Representatives Bice and McGovern are recognized for their efforts in driving innovation and growth by supporting policies that protect intellectual property and encourage education and workforce development. iCivics is honored for its role in promoting civic education through video games, reaching millions of students.

The video game industry's economic impact in the U.S. is substantial, with consumer spending on games reaching $60.8 billion in 2025. The sector's total economic impact was $95.8 billion, contributing $65 billion to U.S. GDP. The ESA has presented the Interactive Entertainment Impact Awards since 2024 to acknowledge key players in the industry.
