EssilorLuxottica and Meta Sign Long-Term Smart Eyewear Partnership
Eyewear manufacturer EssilorLuxottica and technology firm Meta Platforms have signed a new long-term agreement to develop next-generation smart eyewear. The partnership will now extend into the next decade.

Paris, France – EssilorLuxottica announced today a new long-term agreement with Meta Platforms, extending their collaboration on smart eyewear development into the next decade. The companies have partnered since 2019, producing two generations of Ray-Ban branded smart glasses.
The collaboration aims to blend EssilorLuxottica's expertise in eyewear design and distribution with Meta's technological advancements. The current Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are available in markets including the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, and several European countries.
Francesco Milleri, Chairman and CEO of EssilorLuxottica, highlighted the company's ongoing investment in R&D to improve vision and integrate eyewear into the connected world. Mark Zuckerberg, Founder and CEO of Meta, views glasses as a potential major technology platform.
The latest Ray-Ban Meta glasses, released in Fall 2023, feature capabilities such as making calls, capturing photos and videos, and listening to music. Meta AI integration is also available for users in the US and Canada.
