EssilorLuxottica Opens New R&D Hub in Thailand

EssilorLuxottica has opened a new 5,000-square-meter research and development center in Lat Krabang, Thailand. The facility, situated near the company's major manufacturing sites, is designed to accelerate the development and scaling of next-generation vision care solutions, wearables, and medical technologies.

The hub will serve as a strategic center for ophthalmic lens materials and manufacturing technologies, integrating the entire value chain from advanced materials research to industrial process development. The facility includes state-of-the-art research laboratories, development platforms, characterization facilities, and collaborative workspaces.

The new center aims to advance research into next-generation optical lens materials and manufacturing technologies by leveraging expertise in chemistry and polymer processing. This will enable the development of high-performance lenses and strengthen the link between research and industrialization. Beyond lenses, the hub will also expand upstream research for wearables and medical technologies.

Purpose-built to accelerate innovation cycles, the facility allows for rapid development and scaling of new materials and technologies for faster market introduction. Sustainability is a key design consideration, featuring advanced air management systems to reduce emissions. The facility is targeting LEED certification, underscoring the group's commitment to responsible growth.
