EssilorLuxottica Reduces Plastic, Expands Eyewear Recycling
EssilorLuxottica reported progress on reducing single-use plastics and its eyewear recycling program on World Oceans Day 2026.

Eyewear company EssilorLuxottica announced on World Oceans Day 2026, June 8, that it has made progress in reducing plastic usage and advancing its product recycling initiatives as part of its Eyes on the Planet sustainability program.
The company reported a 7% reduction in single-use plastic in its B2C operations and a 12% reduction in B2B operations since its commitment in 2025. These results are part of a larger plan to achieve a 60% reduction in B2C and a 30% reduction in B2B by 2030, using 2023 as a baseline.
The reductions were achieved through substituting plastic components with reusable, non-plastic, or recycled alternatives, optimizing packaging design, and reducing or eliminating certain plastic elements in both products and logistics.
Additionally, EssilorLuxottica's sunglasses brand Costa Del Mar launched new frames in its Untangled Collection, made from 75% recycled fishing nets. The Group has also expanded its take-back program for sunglasses and prescription glasses, operational since 2023, which allows collected products to be donated or have their materials recovered.
