EssilorLuxottica upgrades Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses with new features
EssilorLuxottica and Meta have updated the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses collection with new software features, including video calling and enhanced Meta AI functionalities, along with expanded style options.

EssilorLuxottica, in partnership with Meta, has released updates for its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, introducing new software capabilities and an enhanced Meta AI. These updates aim to expand the functionality and personalization options available to users.
The smart glasses now support video calling through WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. Users can initiate a call and share their point-of-view hands-free with a double-tap on the capture button, integrating more closely with Meta's communication platforms.
A key update is the introduction of multimodal capabilities with Meta AI. This feature allows users to use the glasses to take photos and receive information about their surroundings by simply asking the AI. The AI can identify objects, translate text, or suggest captions based on what the wearer sees. Multimodal AI is currently available in the US and Canada.
Two new frame styles have been added to the collection: the Skyler, inspired by 1960s jet-set style, and the Headliner Low Bridge Fit, designed for better inclusivity. Additionally, four new vibrant lens colors are now available for Transitions lenses within the collection. The Ray-Ban Meta collection offers a total of 30 styles with numerous color and customization combinations.
A limited-edition model, the Ray-Ban | Meta for Scuderia Ferrari, was also launched, combining elements of Ferrari's heritage with Ray-Ban design and Meta's technology. This special edition, limited to 1,000 units, sold out within days of its release.
