EssilorLuxottica's DbyD Brand Launches Bio-Acetate Eyewear Collection
EssilorLuxottica's DbyD brand has launched a collection of eyewear made from bio-acetate, achieving Cradle to Cradle Certification at the product level.

EssilorLuxottica's DbyD brand has taken a significant step toward more responsible eyewear by introducing a new collection crafted from bio-acetate. This collection has earned Cradle to Cradle Certification at the product level, signifying its adherence to high sustainability standards.
DbyD, a proprietary brand of EssilorLuxottica, is focusing on transparency and responsible materials. Following the introduction of recycled metals last year, the brand's new bio-acetate collection utilizes 67% bio-based carbon content derived from plant sources such as cereals and sugarcane.
This initiative aligns with EssilorLuxottica's broader "Eyes on Planet" sustainability program, specifically its "Eyes on Circularity" pillar. The program aims to reduce reliance on fossil-based materials and promote a circular economy within the eyewear industry.
The Cradle to Cradle Certification is a globally recognized sustainability standard that assesses products across five critical categories: material health, product circularity, social fairness, water and soil stewardship, and clean air and climate protection. The certification underscores DbyD's commitment to producing durable, stylish eyewear with minimal environmental impact.
