The introduction of new in-store services has significantly boosted customer foot traffic for independent pet retailers. According to data released by eTailPet, an all-in-one cloud-based point of sale (POS) solution provider for the pet industry, over 60 percent of surveyed businesses reported an increase in physical store visits following the adoption of new services.

The research, which included a range of retailers within the pet sector, also indicated that 50 percent of these businesses have experienced an improvement in customer loyalty. This suggests that expanding service offerings can be an effective strategy for customer engagement and driving store visits.

These added services, potentially including grooming, training, or veterinary consultations, appear to provide consumers with additional reasons to visit brick-and-mortar locations beyond just product purchases. This could aid smaller retailers in competing with online channels and larger chain stores.

Based on this data, eTailPet highlights that investments in in-store services can offer a competitive edge and strengthen customer relationships within the pet retail market.
