European Investment Fund Commits €25 Million to Film and Animation Growth Fund
The European Investment Fund (EIF) has committed up to €25 million to PYXIS Entertainment Ventures’ European Movie Boost Up Fund. The fund targets €85 million to finance European film and animation development and production.
Luxembourg – The European Investment Fund (EIF), part of the European Investment Bank Group, has committed up to €25 million as an anchor investor in PYXIS Entertainment Ventures’ European Movie Boost Up Fund (PYXIS EV). The fund is targeting total commitments of €85 million to support European film and animation content development and production.
Supported by MediaInvest under the InvestEU programme, the investment aims to address a persistent financing gap for European audiovisual producers. PYXIS EV will provide equity financing, particularly for premium projects transitioning from development to full-scale production, while aiming to help producers retain intellectual property rights and enhance international competitiveness.
The agreement was signed on the margins of the San Sebastián International Film Festival, moving the fund closer to its €55 million first-closing threshold. The investment aligns with InvestEU’s objective to mobilize private capital for European audiovisual production and distribution.
PYXIS EV plans to build a scalable portfolio of European audiovisual intellectual property capable of generating long-term value in global markets. The company will collaborate with producers, sales agents, and global distribution partners to maximize international commercial opportunities and the exploitation of rights.
