Eutelsat Books Two Ariane 6 Launches for OneWeb Satellites
Eutelsat has selected Arianespace for two Ariane 64 launches in 2027 and 2028. The launches will support the renewal and expansion of the OneWeb low-Earth-orbit satellite constellation.
Eutelsat has contracted Arianespace for two dedicated Ariane 64 rocket launches scheduled for 2027 and 2028. These missions will support the renewal and further development of Eutelsat's OneWeb low-Earth-orbit (LEO) satellite constellation.
The launches are set to take place from Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana. This agreement extends a long-standing partnership between Eutelsat and Arianespace, which previously conducted 13 missions between 2019 and 2022, placing 428 OneWeb satellites into orbit.
Eutelsat is currently the sole European operator with a global LEO constellation. The Ariane 6 rocket provides Europe with autonomous heavy-lift launch capability. This contract holds strategic significance for Europe's connectivity, resilience, and space independence.
The agreement ensures the continuity of the OneWeb network and enables future enhancements to its capabilities. The planned launches, with the first in 2027 and a second in 2028, will utilize the Ariane 64 configuration, the most powerful variant of the Ariane 6, equipped with four solid rocket boosters.
