Luxury group Kering, through its "Women In Motion" program, has awarded its 4th Madame Figaro Arles Photography Prize to Greek photographer Evangelia Kranioti. The prize, presented on July 7, recognizes Kranioti's work titled "The living, the dead, and those who are at sea," which explores themes of exile and migration through photography and film. The award includes a €10,000 grant.

The prize ceremony, held during the Arles International Photo Festival, highlights Kering's commitment to advancing the role and visibility of women in the arts. Kranioti's work was selected by a jury composed of cultural figures, including French actress Sandrine Kiberlain. The jury was reportedly captivated by the dreamlike quality of her creations, which focus on individuals on the fringes of society.

This marks the fourth iteration of the Madame Figaro Arles Photography Prize. Previous recipients include Laia Abril, Paz Errázuriz, and Wiktoria Wojciechowska, all recognized for their significant contributions and focus on women's status in their respective artistic fields. The award reinforces Kering's broader "Women In Motion" initiative, launched in 2015 to champion women in cinema and the arts.

Kering, a global luxury group, has been a patron of the Madame Figaro Arles prize since 2016 as part of its "Women In Motion" program. This initiative aims to address gender inequality in creative sectors by supporting women in film, photography, art, and literature. The program provides a platform and resources for both established and emerging female talents, fostering dialogue and recognition for their work.
