Everest Medicines Launches VELSIPITY(R) in China for Ulcerative Colitis
Everest Medicines has announced the commercial launch of VELSIPITY(R) in Mainland China, with the first prescription issued at Sun Yat-sen University First Affiliated Hospital. The drug is now accessible in eight major cities nationwide.

Everest Medicines has officially launched VELSIPITY(R) (etrasimod arginine tablets) in Mainland China, marking a significant step in addressing the unmet needs of patients with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis. The first prescription was dispensed on March 9th at The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, and simultaneously, the drug became available in eight tertiary hospitals across seven key cities, ensuring immediate nationwide access.
The approval by China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in February has led to a rapid rollout, with prescriptions starting just one month later. This swift launch is seen as a testament to both strong clinical demand and Everest Medicines' efficient commercialization capabilities. Additionally, VELSIPITY(R) is accessible via internet hospital platforms, broadening patient reach.
Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a rapidly growing gastrointestinal disease globally, with China experiencing a notable increase in cases due to lifestyle and dietary shifts. The market for UC treatments in China is projected to exceed RMB 10 billion by 2030, with innovative small-molecule drugs like VELSIPITY(R) expected to be key growth drivers.
VELSIPITY(R) is a next-generation, highly selective S1P receptor modulator offering potential best-in-disease performance. Clinical studies, including the ENLIGHT UC trial in Asia, have demonstrated its efficacy in achieving rapid onset of action, long-lasting clinical remission, steroid-free remission, and deep mucosal healing, all with a favorable safety profile.
