Evergreen Fresh Sprouts recalls broccoli sprouts amid Salmonella outbreak

Evergreen Fresh Sprouts LLC, based in Moyie Springs, Idaho, has initiated a voluntary recall of 215 cases of broccoli sprouts due to potential Salmonella contamination. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) confirmed the recall is linked to an ongoing outbreak that has sickened 22 individuals across Idaho, Montana, Utah, and Washington. Two people have required hospitalization, though no deaths have been reported.

The recalled products are 4-ounce clear plastic bags of broccoli sprouts with UPC code 8 38796 00105 1 and "Use By" dates of 9/07/26, 9/09/26, 9/11/26, 9/14/26, and 9/16/26. These sprouts were distributed to three distributors in Washington and may have reached retail stores in Idaho, Montana, and Washington. The FDA cautions that the contaminated sprouts might have been sold in other states as well.

Symptoms of Salmonella infection typically include watery diarrhea, stomach cramps, headache, nausea, and vomiting, appearing six hours to six days after exposure and lasting up to seven days. Health officials advise consumers to discard the recalled sprouts immediately and to thoroughly clean and sanitize any surfaces that came into contact with the product.
