Evident Introduces Pramana POD Scanner for Small to Medium Pathology Labs

Evident announced the release of its new Pramana™ POD system, a benchtop whole slide imaging (WSI) scanner aimed at making digital pathology more accessible for small and medium-sized laboratories. This new device automates the process of digitizing microscope slides, reducing manual intervention and enhancing laboratory efficiency.
The system is designed to address the increasing case volumes in pathology labs by providing consistent, high-quality images of various sample types. The Pramana POD is built to integrate with existing workflows and includes built-in quality control features that minimize the need for post-scanning reviews.
Prasanth Perugupalli, Evident's Vice President of Digital Pathology, highlighted that the Pramana technology has already received positive reception. He noted that the integrated quality control helps reduce both the costs and delays associated with post-scan inspections.
The Pramana POD utilizes advanced tissue detection and automatic focusing to produce images at 40x magnification. With a capacity of 25 slides per hour and the ability to capture multiple focal planes, the system ensures detailed images ready for pathologist review. It is suitable for a range of applications, including histopathology and hematology.
