Evonik has opened a new GMP-compliant manufacturing facility in Vancouver, Canada, to meet growing demand for lipid-based nanoparticle development and clinical trial drug production.
Specialty chemicals company Evonik has established a new Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliant facility in Vancouver, Canada. The plant is designed to address the increasing demand for the development of lipid-based nanoparticles (LNPs) and the manufacturing of drug products for clinical trials.
The investment, exceeding CAD 150 million (approximately EUR 93 million), enhances Evonik's capacity to support clients throughout the drug development lifecycle, from early-stage research to commercial production. The facility enables large-scale manufacturing for mRNA vaccine technology and other novel drug applications.
This expansion in Vancouver is part of Evonik's strategy to broaden its offerings in areas such as novel drug delivery systems. The company aims to strengthen its position as a partner for the pharmaceutical industry, providing comprehensive solutions from ingredient development to finished drug manufacturing.
The new site will particularly support LNP technology, a key component in the delivery of many new therapeutics, including mRNA vaccines. Evonik stated the facility will ensure high-quality and reliable production for various stages of drug development.
