Ex-Audi Designer Unveils New Amble One Off-Roader
Portuguese startup Amble has launched the 'One' off-road vehicle, weighing under 450 kg. The vehicle was designed by Julian Hoenig, known for his work on the Audi R8 and Apple Watch.

Portuguese startup Amble has introduced the 'One', an off-road vehicle weighing less than 450 kilograms. The vehicle is designed for various climates and applications.
The 'One' stands out due to its designer, Julian Hoenig, a former senior designer at Audi who led the design for vehicles such as the Audi R8 and RSQ concept car. Hoenig also contributed to the design of the iPhone 4 and Apple Watch during his tenure at Apple from 2010 to 2019.
The project began four years ago when a friend in the hotel industry commissioned Hoenig to design a shuttle vehicle for luxury resorts. Hoenig realized a larger market existed if the vehicle could be legally driven on roads, leading him to establish Amble.
Amble plans to offer the 'One' in three configurations: a four-seater passenger version, a pickup variant with an open cargo area replacing the rear seats, and a cargo van with a high storage cabinet. The 'One' is certified under the L7e category, which allows speeds up to 90 km/h, but its design speed is capped at 64 km/h. The vehicle has a range of approximately 100 kilometers on a full charge.
