EXP Expands Sustainable Infrastructure Services for North American Airports
Engineering and design firm EXP is assisting airport operators in implementing carbon reduction initiatives, electrification strategies, and resilient energy systems.

EXP is increasing its involvement in the aviation sector by integrating sustainability into capital infrastructure projects. The firm focuses on aligning airport operational goals with environmental mandates, balancing the need for net-zero transitions with the realities of continuous, 24/7 airport operations.
Recent project engagements include providing electrification and solar infrastructure support for the Miami Dade Aviation Department and developing net-zero energy plans for Broward County. Additionally, the firm is working on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) initiatives in Washington state and conducting microgrid feasibility studies in Guam. These efforts represent a shift toward long-term energy resilience and carbon reduction across diverse geographic locations.
“Aviation clients are no longer asking if sustainability should be integrated; they’re asking how to do it in a way that is practical, phased and operationally sound,” said EXP Vice President of Aviation Marcos Souza.
As regulatory pressures and climate risks rise, EXP continues to prioritize energy modeling, lifecycle analysis, and renewable energy integration as core components of its aviation facility designs.
