Explora Journeys Takes Delivery of Third Luxury Cruise Ship, Explora III

Explora Journeys, the ultra-luxury ocean travel brand of MSC Group, has officially taken delivery of its third cruise ship, Explora III, from Fincantieri shipyard in Genoa, Italy. The delivery marks a halfway milestone in the brand's planned six-ship fleet, with three vessels now in operation.

Explora III is the third ship in the company's fleet and the first designed to be LNG-capable, representing a step forward in Explora Journeys' environmental strategy. The vessel is also described as the most spacious in the fleet, offering enhanced public areas, expanded wellness and culinary experiences, and a greater sense of privacy and comfort.

The official handover ceremony took place at the Fincantieri shipyard and was attended by senior executives from MSC Group and Fincantieri, along with local dignitaries. The event included the traditional flag-changing ceremony and a bottle-breaking ceremony performed by Explora III's Godmother, Maya Aponte.

"Today marks another proud milestone for Explora Journeys as we officially welcome EXPLORA III into our growing fleet," said Anna Nash, President of Explora Journeys. "With every new ship, we have the opportunity to listen, learn and refine, building on what our guests value most."

Explora III also introduces three new distinct culinary concepts: The Cellar, The Chef's Table, and Shore Club on 11. The ship features an expanded collection of suites and residences and includes the first Chopard boutique at sea. The vessel will commence operations with a short Mediterranean Prelude Journey on July 24, 2026, followed by its official naming ceremony and Maiden Journey departing from Barcelona in early August.
