Explr to expand National STEM Festival to international markets
The National STEM Festival, organized by Explr, will debut in the United Kingdom in 2027 as part of a broader strategy to establish global innovation summits for students.

Explr, the educational media company behind the National STEM Festival, has announced plans to expand its program internationally. The first overseas iteration is scheduled for May 2027 in the United Kingdom. Students aged 13 to 19 from across the U.K. can apply by November 22 to present their work, with 40 participants set to be selected for the London-based event. To ensure broad access, organizers will cover travel and accommodation costs for participants.
Launched in 2023, the festival connects students with industry mentors and government officials to help refine technical projects and navigate intellectual property. Projects at the U.S. events have ranged from specialized recycling machinery to pharmaceutical apps. According to CEO Jenny Buccos, the program focuses on providing long-term skills in networking and communication, regardless of whether participants eventually pursue STEM careers.
Following the U.K. event, Explr is planning a festival in Guadalajara, Mexico, for November 2027, with preliminary discussions underway for a regional hub in the United Arab Emirates. The company aims to establish a recurring global circuit for youth innovation that mirrors the structure of international sports competitions.
