Eyelid surgery and liposuction lead aesthetic procedures globally

The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) released its annual global survey on aesthetic procedures, indicating a significant volume of both surgical and non-surgical interventions. In 2025, nearly 17.9 million surgical and 17.3 million non-surgical procedures were performed globally, marking a 9.2% increase over the previous four years.

Eyelid surgery once again ranked as the most common surgical procedure. Liposuction followed, with breast augmentation, breast lift, and abdominoplasty rounding out the top five surgical interventions. For non-surgical treatments, botulinum toxin, hyaluronic acid fillers, non-surgical skin tightening, and hair removal were the most popular.

Procedures on the face and head saw an increase, totaling over 7.6 million interventions, a 3.2% rise. Eyelid surgeries accounted for over 2.4 million of these. Breast procedures increased by 5.7% to 4.7 million, while body and limb procedures saw an 8.9% decrease to 5.4 million.

Eyelid surgery was the most frequent surgical procedure for both women and men. Among women, breast augmentation and liposuction were the next most popular, while men most commonly underwent gynecomastia treatments and rhinoplasty. Women constituted 85.6% of all surgical and 84.8% of non-surgical procedures.

Younger demographics (18-34) favored breast augmentation and certain genital procedures, while the 35-50 age group opted more for botulinum toxin and liposuction. Botulinum toxin remained the most popular non-surgical treatment across all age groups.

The United States performed the highest number of procedures overall with over 5.4 million, followed by Brazil with 3.2 million and China with 2.8 million. The US led in non-surgical procedures, while Brazil led in surgical procedures.
