Eyelid surgery, liposuction rank as top aesthetic surgical procedures

The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) released its annual global survey on aesthetic procedures in 2026. The report indicates that eyelid surgery was the most common surgical procedure globally, followed by liposuction and breast augmentation.

Globally, surgeons performed nearly 17.9 million surgical procedures and 17.3 million non-surgical procedures. Over the past four years, the total number of aesthetic procedures saw a 9.2 percent increase. Eyelid surgery emerged as the most frequent procedure for both women and men. For women, it was followed by liposuction and breast augmentation, while for men, gynecomastia correction and rhinoplasty were the second and third most common, respectively.

Procedures on the face and head showed growth, with over 7.6 million interventions and a 3.2 percent increase. The most frequent were eyelid surgery (over 2.4 million), rhinoplasty (over 1 million), and facial fat grafting (0.9 million). Breast procedures accounted for 4.7 million, a 5.7 percent rise. In contrast, body and limb procedures decreased by 8.9 percent, totaling 5.4 million.

Approximately 85.6 percent of all surgical procedures and 84.8 percent of non-surgical ones were performed on women. The majority of breast augmentations (49.5 percent), genital surgeries (45.2 percent), and rhinoplasties (57 percent) were performed on individuals aged 18 to 34. Liposuction was most popular among those aged 35 to 50 (44 percent).

The United States remained the leading country in procedure volume with over 5.4 million, followed by Brazil with 3.2 million and China with 2.8 million. ISAPS President Amin Kalaaji noted the report highlights significant market shifts, with breast lift (mastopexy) showing the largest percentage increase at 48 percent.
