FACC AG starts series production of engine composites for Trent XWB
Austrian aerospace supplier FACC AG has commenced series production of composite engine parts for Rolls-Royce's Trent XWB powerplant. The contract covers four engine components.

Austrian aerospace supplier FACC AG has begun series production of composite parts for the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engine. These components are designed for the Airbus A350 XWB aircraft family.
The production start marks a significant milestone for FACC's Engine & Nacelles division. The company delivered the final of four contracted engine components, a fan track liner, to Rolls-Royce last week, meeting the deadline. FACC is responsible for the development and manufacturing of these engine composites under a life-of-program contract. The Trent XWB engine, known for its fuel efficiency, entered service in late 2014.
Rolls-Royce awarded the contract to FACC in 2012. The estimated order volume is approximately $300 million USD, with deliveries expected to continue until at least 2028. The commencement of series production represents the culmination of FACC's years of research and development.
Key components produced by FACC include fan track liners, which seal the fan casing and manage airflow; rear case liners that provide acoustic absorption; and bifurcation fairings and anti-fluid panels. The use of composite materials in these engine parts contributes to reduced weight, improved acoustics, and enhanced aerodynamics, ultimately boosting the Trent XWB engine's efficiency and environmental performance.
