Aerospace supplier FACC AG presented its internal Leonardo Award for the first time on November 29, 2014, recognizing outstanding team achievements within the company. Approximately 1,100 guests attended the ceremony held at the Ried exhibition hall.
The "Interior" team received the inaugural award for its project "A320 – pulsed line production." This initiative successfully harmonized various work steps and increased productivity by 16 percent, incorporating modern ergonomic principles. CEO Robert Machtlinger highlighted that the award aims to showcase innovative team successes and acknowledge exceptional performance.
The winning project involved transitioning the production concept for A320 interior components from cell manufacturing to a modern, automated, pulsed line. This change improved working conditions and enabled increased production of 13,000 overhead bins annually, while simultaneously reducing inventory. FACC has a history of receiving external awards, including the "Inventum Award" and the "Staatspreis Fit for Future."
Judging criteria for the Leonardo Award included appreciation, success, performance, and team spirit. A jury selected the five finalists from 32 submitted projects. FACC AG is a leading global supplier of advanced fiber composite components for the aviation industry, reporting a turnover of EUR 547.4 million in fiscal year 2013/14 and employing approximately 2,800 people in Austria.
