Aerospace component manufacturer FACC AG has been awarded a contract by Embraer to design, build, and support the wing spoilers and ailerons for the second generation of its E-Jets commercial aircraft family, known as E-Jets E2.

The agreement extends for the lifetime of the aircraft. FACC estimates that its total revenues from the E-Jets E2 program could exceed USD 120 million, contingent on the sales success of the aircraft family. This contract marks a significant expansion of FACC's relationship with Embraer, extending its collaboration beyond interior products into the aerostructures sector.

The spoilers and ailerons will be designed, tested, and manufactured by FACC's Aerostructures division in Ried, Austria. The engineering Joint Definition Phase (JDP) began in mid-June. First-part deliveries are anticipated in the first quarter of 2015, supporting the aircraft's entry into service in 2018.

These advanced composite spoilers and ailerons are intended to be a key element in the E-Jets E2 family achieving goals for an aerodynamically advanced wing, reduced fuel burn, and lower emissions. The FACC-produced systems are designed to be lightweight and cost-efficient, integrating spoiler and aileron functions into ready-to-install units.
