Facebook grants users more control over content algorithm

Facebook, owned by Meta Platforms, has introduced a new AI-powered feature named "Your Algorithm." This update enables users to directly influence the content they see in their Feed and Reels by describing their preferences using natural language.

The new tool allows users to communicate their desired content directly to the platform. Instead of relying solely on automated recommendations, users can now specify topics and types of content they wish to see more or less of. Changes made to preferences are reflected in the content recommendations in real time.

Meta has also updated Facebook's three-dot menu, providing users with easier access to manage their content preferences directly from individual posts. Through this menu, users can access "Your Algorithm" settings or select "Interested" and "Not interested" options to indicate their alignment with specific content.

The company stated that the platform may ask follow-up questions to better understand user feedback on likes and dislikes. This allows Facebook to refine its recommendations based on user responses. This feature was previously launched on Instagram.
