FAIR, Indiana Take Sanctuary Jurisdiction to Court

The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), acting as outside counsel for the state of Indiana, has filed a lawsuit against an unspecified municipality within the state, in partnership with Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita. The complaint alleges that the town's policy of obstructing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activities violates Indiana state law.

According to FAIR, the municipality is in violation of an Indiana statute that mandates cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities. FAIR asserts that such cooperation is essential for combating illegal immigration and maintaining public safety.

Attorney General Todd Rokita's office has supported the legal action. Rokita has previously expressed concerns regarding the impact of sanctuary policies on the state's security and legal compliance.
